During the Ramadan War, intelligent targeting systems were deployed on a full scale for the first time. Relying on machine learning algorithms and big data analytics, these systems drastically shortened the process from target identification to attack authorization, reducing the human role from decision-maker to a ceremonial approver. This article analyzes the consequences of using such systems under international law. The central question is whether deploying intelligent targeting systems in this conflict complies with international humanitarian law (IHL) and international criminal law (ICL). The hypothesis is that using these systems—due to reliance on statistical correlations instead of conclusive evidence, predefined caps on civilian casualties, and reducing human confirmation time to mere seconds—has led to systematic violations of IHL and ICL. The research method is analytical-critical, based on technical documents and field reports. Findings show that algorithmic methods have replaced individualized distinction, quantification of civilian casualties undermines case-by-case proportionality assessment, turning human operators into rubber stamps erases precautionary measures, and by severing the causal chain, creates a systematic accountability gap in ICL.
