Conclusion: The integration of postmodern criminological concepts facilitates the identification of state crimes within criminal justice systems. Postmodern criminology, by rethinking crime and deconstructing the government constructed definition, enables the coexistence of the concepts of crime and government—once deemed contradictory—and positions the state as a criminal actor. In explaining the causation of state crime, postmodern criminology attributes such crimes to the interplay of power, knowledge, governmental narration, and mechanisms of criminal justice response. It reveals how power reinforces knowledge, how knowledge reciprocally supports power, and how narratives—significantly shaped by knowledge—serve governmental interests. Postmodern criminology of state crime even portrays legal structures as instruments of power designed to strip citizens of their rights, while criminal justice systems responses serve no purpose other than sustaining power. Consequently, state crime is perpetrated multilayered: softly, through deprivation of rights via legal, media, discursive, justificatory, and persuasive mechanisms; and harshly, through punitive criminal justice systems
