Special Issue: The Twelve-Day War of Summer 2025: Multidisciplinary Legal and Political Inquiries

The Journal of Legal Studies, a prestigious peer-reviewed publication with an 'A' rank from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, is pleased to announce a call for papers for its Winter 2025 issue (Volume 18, Issue 4). This special issue will be dedicated to a comprehensive and analytical examination of the "Twelve-Day War" of Summer 2025 from diverse scientific and interdisciplinary perspectives.

The recent conflict, while brief in duration, has unleashed profound and far-reaching consequences that demand rigorous scholarly attention. Its multifaceted nature intersects with numerous domains of international law, political science, strategic studies, and sociology. This special issue aims to dissect these complexities, moving beyond mere description to provide deep, critical, and forward-looking analyses. We seek to foster an academic discourse that not only understands the event's immediate legal and political ramifications but also explores its implications for regional stability, international security paradigms, and the future of diplomatic engagements.

We cordially invite university professors, distinguished researchers, and scholars in the fields of law, political science, international relations, and related disciplines to submit their original and unpublished manuscripts for consideration. Submissions should be analytical in approach and contribute novel insights to the existing body of knowledge.

Submission Deadline: 5 January 2026 (30 Dey 1404)

Suggested Themes and Topics (including but not limited to):

• The Law of Armed Conflict and International Humanitarian Law: Analyses of proportionality, distinction, targeting protocols, and the protection of civilians during the conflict.
• Legal Frameworks Governing Nuclear Technology: The legal status of nuclear facilities, the doctrine of nuclear deterrence, and the intersection of nuclear energy law with armed conflict.
• International Criminal Law: Issues of accountability, potential war crimes, the role of international tribunals, and mechanisms for transitional justice.
• Human Rights and Citizenship Law: The impact of war on civil liberties, the rights of minorities and vulnerable groups, and the legal framework for post-conflict reconciliation.
• The Interplay of Law and Politics in Iran's International Strategy: How legal arguments are strategically employed within Iran's broader foreign policy and defensive postures.
• Iran's International Treaties on Nuclear Technology: A critical examination of Iran's rights and obligations under relevant treaties in the context of the war.
• The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT): The legal-political dimensions of the NPT, challenges to the non-proliferation regime, and the treaty's resilience in the face of regional conflicts.
• Iran's Defensive-Preemptive Legal-Political Strategy: Scholarly deconstruction of the legal justifications and political rationale behind Iran's defensive strategies.
• National Identity, War, and the Legal Recognition of Minorities: Exploring the role of war in shaping national cohesion and the legal status and experiences of ethnic and religious minorities during the conflict.
• Political Party Diversity, Democracy, and War: The function of a multi-party system and democratic institutions in times of national crisis and warfare.
• Vibrant Civil Society and War: The role of non-governmental organizations, media, and public discourse in conflict and post-conflict scenarios.
• Peace and its Legal-Political Requisites: The legal and political foundations for sustainable peace, ceasefire agreements, and long-term conflict resolution.
• Peace in the Doctrines of Islam and Judaism: A comparative analysis of the concepts of peace, justice, and conflict resolution within these two Abrahamic traditions.
• Regional Solidarity and its Legal-Political Implications: Exploring pathways for regional cooperation, collective security arrangements, and their legal underpinnings.

All submissions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal's submission guidelines, which are available on the journal's website. Please submit your papers through the online submission system.
